This month we introduce Robert D. Gaddis. Bob is one of several Military retirees that serve on the Council. From 1961 to 1981 he served in an 11B/11F Infantry MOS. His significant tours of duty include two tours in Germany with the 3rd Inf Div, 7th Inf and the 8th Inf Div, 13th Inf.

He served two combat tours in Viet Nam. The first tour was 1966-67 with the 121st AHC, 69th Inf Det and the second was in 1971 as the Rural Developement Cadre Advisor, Team 71. Both tours were at Soc Trang in the Delta. He started his Army career as an APC driver, then became a machine gunner; working his way to Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and finally Company First Sergeant . Other assigments included Marksmenship Instructor at Fort Knox and Fort Bliss and Combat Intellgence Instructor at Fort Benning. For his service he received numerous awards and decorations including the Combat Infantry Badge and Air Crewman's Badge. Following his retirement he worked as a Station Manager for Grehound Bus lines and then  in the Maintenance department of Salt Fork State Park Lodge. Bob and his wife Shirley have enjoyed 57 "good" years of marriage. Bob likes to say that Shirley is as much a "Veteran" as he is! Bob began his association with the Veterans Council in 2006 and was elected Quartermaster in 2007. A position he continues to fill today.
